“70’s Sing-along was a Sweet Success”
Our St. Valentine’s lunch was well attended Thursday.
Perhaps they came for the homemade pies made especially for us by Atria Senior Living. Maybe the tender Chicken Cacciatore and aroma of garlic bread drew them in. Or, could they have heard that a Cher look-alike would be leading our song fest?
Well, no matter the reason, the hall was filled with the joyous sounds of friends chatting while hits from the seventies played in the background. As the cherry and apple slices were being enjoyed, our M.C., Bobbi Cawdrey, appeared dressed as if she had stepped right out of a 70’s party – bell bottoms, paisley shirt and long black hair held in place by a bandana around her head. What a kick!
Words were projected on the screen as the group sang beloved songs such as The Carpenters “Close to You” and Capt. and Tennille’s “Love will Keep us Together.” The audience enthusiastically sang songs from Olivia Newton John, Kenny Rogers, Stevie Wonder and many more artists from the dawn of disco era.
Join us next month on March 20th for our St Pat’s Day celebration, with a corned beef meal and some Irish dancers.
