On Tuesday we will celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord. This feast is also called Candlemas Day, because on this day we bless the candles that will be used in the church for the coming year as well as bless the candles that are brought to the church for blessing and are to be used in each ones individual homes.

This blessing will take part at the beginning of the Mass, in the gathering place.  We will gather just inside the doors of the Church. A tray of candles will be available for all and when we are in place the candles will be lighted.  Father will bless the candles on display as well as those being held by each person. At the conclusion of the blessing, we will go in procession with our lighted candles (singing Christ Be Our Light) to the place where Mass will be celebrated. This is a beautiful tradition of our Church.
