Observe World Day of the Poor
by Supporting the Collection for the Bishops’ Anti-poverty Program
Sunday, November 17 marks the eighth annual World Day of the Poor, a celebration that Pope Francis describes as “a fruitful sign of the Father’s mercy” that “enables us to discover ever anew the heart of the Gospel.” In conjunction with this worldwide observance, dioceses across the country will be taking up a special collection to support the work of the U.S. bishops’ antipoverty efforts.
For over 50 years, the United States Bishops Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) has helped low-income people across the country address the root causes of poverty in their own communities. From bringing together community members, local government officials and business leaders to improve job training and educational opportunities to helping parishes welcome and support immigrants, CCHD-supported programs are making a difference at the grassroots level in cities and rural areas from coast to coast.
Special envelopes are available at Mass, or donate online. Thank you for your generosity!
