Thursday’s Senior Luncheon!
“Roll Out the Barrel!”
Oktoberfest arrived early Thursday, as our seniors gathered for the monthly luncheon. The guests were greeted by a table of fresh, warm pretzels, with mustard and cheese sauce (provided by Atria Senior Living). The bar was open and serving beer, as in “root beer”!
Lively music was performed by The Polka Dots Accordion Band both before and after lunch. For lunch – delicious chicken schnitzel and bratwurst with all the trimmings. One of the highlights of the day was the celebration of Minnie Domingos’ 100th birthday. Her daughter, Judy Porter, provided cake for all. Minnie put us youngsters to shame because she was on the dance floor more than anyone else! The band played a great variety of polkas and waltzes. A group joined together for The Chicken Dance and later we all sang a rousing version of “Rosamunde”, better known as “The Beer Barrel Polka”.
Next month, on Oct 19th, we’ll meet for our Fall Festival. The “ghoul”ash menu is sure to delight all souls, and a few mildly challenging carnival games will greet all saints. Costumes are encouraged, but not required.
