OUR MOTHER OF CONFIDENCE FEAST DAY
Saturday, February 10 | 9:00am Mass

Join us as we celebrate the feast day of our name sake, “Our Mother of
Confidence” or in Italian “Madonna della fiducia” (Our Lady of Confidence/Trust).

We will be commemorating this feast at Mass followed by a Procession, a Rosary
and a reception.

The Feast Day for Mary under the title of “Madonna della fiducia” is celebrated on the Saturday before Ash Wednesday.

The title Our Lady of Confidence comes from Italy in the seventeenth century. In this image, notice that the Christ Child points towards His Mother, the source of graces and confidence. This image of Mary holding Jesus Christ hangs over the altar of the small chapel for the seminarians in Rome. St. Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI celebrated this feast day every year in this very chapel on the Saturday before Ash Wednesday.

The intention in naming churches is, in the case of a saint, that the people should have special love for that saint; that they should place themselves under his protection, and, by the study and imitation of his life, make themselves worthy of his intercession before God. That saint, in whose honor the church is named, becomes the patron saint of the place, and his feast is called the patronal feast.

A Plenary Indulgence is granted to those who devoutly visit the parochial church either on its titular feast, the feast day of the saint or holy title it is named after. In addition to visiting the
church, it is required that one Our Father and the Creed be recited to obtain the indulgence.
