We enter into the season of Lent, a special season preparing all for the celebration of Easter. The twofold themes of repentance and baptism disposes both the catechumens and the faithful to celebrate the Paschal Mystery. The catechumens (those preparing for the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist) through the various rites they celebrate during Lent, and the faithful by listening attentively to the Word of God, praying and repenting are prepared to renew their baptismal promises.
The season Lent begins with Ash Wednesday and comes to and end before the evening Mass of Holy Thursday, which then begins the Sacred Paschal Triduum.
Below are the schedule of Masses and other liturgical services that will be offered at Our Mother of Confidence:
MARCH 2, 2022
MASSES: 8:00 AM, 12 PM, 5:30 PM, 7:00 PM.
Ashes will be distributed at all the Masses.
At 8:00 AM, with the exception of Fridays when the Mass will be at 5:30 PM
Will continue on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM. During Lent this will consist of a short Lenten Reflection, Adoration, Confessions, and Benediction.
PARISH LENTEN PENANCE SERVICE
Wednesday, March 9 at both 12 PM and 7 PM.
STATIONS OF THE CROSS
Inside the Church Fridays at 12 Noon and 7 PM.
Stations of the Cross will also be set up outside in the Parking Lot. Booklets will be available for your use outdoors.
The Church remains open each day after the Morning Mass until about 5:00 PM. There will be booklets available for
those who wish to pray the Stations of the Cross individually.
LENTEN SOUP SUPPERS
Will take place on Friday evenings at 6:15 PM (after Mass and before the Stations).
The Traditional Practices during Lent are PRAYER, FASTING AND ALMSGIVING.
- There are many opportunities to come to PRAYER communally or privately in Church or wherever is most convenient for you.
- We can FAST from food or our various activities so that this denial may leave us more available for prayer or good works.
- ALMSGIVING can be our monetary giving, or giving of our time, our talent or our treasure for the good of others.
