Reach More – Connect to Christ

Connect to CHrist“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Matthew 8:20

All of us here at Our Mother of Confidence are excited to introduce a new ministry to the parish – “Reach More – Connect to Christ”.

When Christ began His ministry even He began with small groups – beginning with the twelve apostles.  And from those small groups more than 2000 years ago, our Church has grown. Although this is not a “Lenten program”, our first set of meetings will begin to meet in the Lenten season which is a perfect time to slow down and connect with new friends while growing closer to God’s word.

Our small groups will be meeting weekly for 7 weeks beginning the week of March 5. Small groups will gather in a variety of locations – homes, coffee shops, etc. to discuss life and faith, reflect on scripture and discuss and how it might apply to their daily lives. Praying for and with one another will be another important part of these meetings.

Let’s be honest: Isn’t it really hard to follow Jesus sometimes? We don’t always know what our faith in him really means to us, or how the Mass, or scripture matters to our everyday lives. Too often we lack the peace, joy, or strength that we need and should be experiencing as Christians. I have been working with a small group of facilitators for the past 3 months. All of them are lay people, just like you, who have been trained in facilitating Spirit‐filled conversation and they are looking forward to meeting you. There are no teachers and students in small groups, just friends seeking and growing closer to Christ.  And because you’ll talk about the Scriptures together, God can speak to you through other people, and to other people through you. This really happens when we seek God together in the Scriptures.

Even if you’re shy and find the idea of meeting a group of strangers a little unnerving, please try it. I promise, you will be warmly welcomed and included, and no one is going to force you to talk if you don’t want to.

There are already several other parishes in our Diocese that, through this ministry, have experienced tremendous transformation and have brought hundreds of people closer to God and His Church. These parishes report having a more active community, with many intimate friendships being formed and a stronger faith for the parishioners.

I understand we all lead busy lives, but this is worth your time. Jesus is calling you to be a disciple and to grow closer to Him and bring others closer to Him. Even if you’re busy, please consider taking this time to make space for God in your life.

Sign up cards and sheets are available in the gathering space. For more information I can be reached by email at

I pray that you will answer the call.

Your friend in Christ.
