“And people were bringing children to him that he might touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw this he became indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not prevent them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
The Religious Education Program at Our Mother of Confidence Parish offers catechesis for children from preschool / kindergarten (ages 4 – 5) through 6th grade. Our program is focused on providing children the opportunity to grow in the knowledge and understanding of our Catholic faith and tradition while developing their own personal relationship with God on their own faith journey.
Parents are the primary catechists in their children’s lives, and the Religious Education staff is available to provide families with tools and experiences to enrich that relationship. We will have faith-filled family events to encourage parents as they share in the faith growth of their children.
The Religious Education office is located on the ground floor of the church building and can be accessed by the ramp, stairs or elevator.
Children meet weekly in grade level classes where they grow in faith and community with other children from the parish, led by dedicated volunteer catechists. Class times are:
Preschool / Kindergarten – During the 9:00 AM Mass on Sundays
Grades 1-6 – Either Tuesday or Wednesday from 3:55 – 5:15 PM
We also have a nursery for small children during the 9:00 AM Mass on Sundays.
While classes have already begun, children who have not yet registered may still sign-up for the program in the Religious Education office. A calendar for the program this year can be downloaded here: 2017-18 Religious Education Calendar
Nursery: No Cost
Preschool / Kindergarten: $60 for 1 child; $80 for 2 or more children
Grades 1 – 12: $110 for 1 child; $170 for 2 children; $200 for 3 or more children
Cost should never prevent a child from participating in Faith Formation. If you are struggling financially, please contact us and we will work with you to assure your child can participate.
Children who have not yet received the sacrament of Baptism may enroll in our program and will receive Baptism during the first year of classes.
Children who are at least in 2nd grade will receive their First Reconciliation, and their First Communion as part of the second year. Students must be enrolled for two consecutive years to receive these sacraments.
Children are invited and encouraged to join the Children’s Choir. The choir sings at our children’s Christmas and Easter liturgies, as well as at our First Eucharist liturgy. The Children’s choir is also invited to sing at the 9:00 AM Mass on occasion, and on occasion within the local community.
Rehearsals take place on Sunday mornings from 10:15 – 11:00 AM, and will begin in October. Please call or email Mrs. JoEllyn to sign up. All are welcome!
