Get ready to say, "Cheese!" OMC has commissioned a company called LIFE TOUCH to create a new parish pictorial directory for us. Our last directory was in 2010. The time has come for us to have a new one. Having a parish directory proves invaluable when one needs to put a name to a face. We will feel more like family if we can remember each other’s names. I am happy to announce that the new Director of Elementary Religious Education for our Mother of Confidence parish will be Mrs. JoEllyn Mascarenhas. I am particularly pleased to have a longtime fully engaged parishioner be promoted to this important position of ministry in our parish. JoEllyn is very well known to most parishioners. She has served in the following ministries for many years: Assistant Youth Director with her husband Ian; a teacher in our parish Junior High School Religious Education; serving as a private tutor for older students who need to prepare for the reception of the Sacraments; a facilitator in the new evangelization process for our parish, Reach More – Connection to Christ; co-director with her husband Ian of the parish Annual Vacation Bible School; planning and execution of the Annual Rummage Sale together with her husband Ian; and serving as a cantor and member of the Contemporary Choir. JoEllyn will continue her formal studies at the Diocesan Institute of the Diocese of San Diego in the area of Catechesis, Liturgy and Theology. In keeping with the deliberations of the recently held Diocesan Synod on the Family JoEllyn in collaboration with the leadership of our parish will begin implementing more family focused programs to engage the entire family in catechesis and ongoing religious formation. I am grateful to JoEllyn for agreeing to undertake this important ministry in our parish. Let us continue to hold JoEllyn, Ian, Michael and Jeremy in prayer. ... See MoreSee Less
This weekend will be the 4th Annual Fundraising and Bottled Water Drive at Our Mother of Confidence, in order to support the 2017 Veterans Village of San Diego. This fundraising and donation event is hosted by our very active Knights of Columbus chapter. If you do not know about Operation Stand Down, it is a much needed and incredibly moving annual event, where our homeless military veterans receive a 'hand up, not a hand out.' Hundreds and hundreds of homeless attend and get to receive medical care, legal advice, shoes, clothing, counseling, food, and of course, water. [ 96 more words ]
